Women’s Entrepreneurship Center: START-UP Program-FALL 2020

Business StartUP Series for Women (Fall Program)
The University of Scranton Women’s Entrepreneurship Center (WEC) and Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are teaming up to offer “StartUP” a 6-week certificate program designed for women with lower incomes, those in transition or those trying to make a better life for themselves and their families, the program will offer women support and guidance in determining if entrepreneurship is an option for them. The series will be held via Zoom on Tuesdays, beginning October 13 and ending November 17th, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Tuesdays: October 13, 20, 27 and November 3, 10 and 17th, 2020)
Facilitated by experienced SBDC consultants, the series is designed to give lower income women the step-by-step guidance needed to develop successful small businesses. Participants in this interactive program will learn start-up basics, legal and insurance considerations, marketing and social media essentials, business plan development, accounting and budget skills, financing options and requirements, and goal setting. Local women business owners will also visit the sessions to share their experiences.

The University of Scranton Women’s Entrepreneurship Center is a partnership between the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Kania School of Management (KSOM) that utilizes experienced SBDC consultants along with carefully selected KSOM student interns. The interns are highly skilled, and enhance the work done by consultants by assisting with training, conducting research, and completing projects.
