Tell Your Business Story: Building a Pitch That Connects

Can you clearly explain what your business does, who you serve, and why your business stands out? Whether you’re introducing your business to a potential customer, networking with a new contact, talking with a lender or investor, or looking for a business partner, a strong pitch can help you communicate your value and make a memorable connection.
In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to develop and adapt your business pitch for different audiences and goals. We’ll explore the essential elements of an effective pitch, including your customer’s problem, your solution, target market, unique value proposition, competition, credibility, and—most importantly—your ask. You’ll also learn how to prepare, practice, and deliver your pitch with greater clarity and confidence, both in person and virtually.
Attendees will be able to:
– Identify the purpose of their pitch and determine what they are asking for
– Identify and communicate the problem their business solves and the value it provides
– Clearly describe their target customer and what differentiates their business
-Understand the differences between an elevator, sales, and funding pitch
– Develop a concise pitch tailored to a specific audience
– Apply best practices for preparing and delivering a pitch in person or virtually
– Practice communicating their business clearly, confidently, and concisely
Speaker: Isabel Krome
Isabel Krome joined the Temple Small Business Development Center as a Business Consultant in 2021 and has helped launch and grow businesses across a range of industries, including professional services, creative businesses, daycare businesses, cleaning companies, and eCommerce businesses. She currently serves as the Center’s Associate Director and AI Specialist.
Isabel has more than a decade of experience in small business development. Her work has included business model planning, refining and perfecting funding and sales pitches, market research, AI implementation, business formalization, accessing capital, strategic planning, diversity certifications, and more. In recent years, she has also organized and anchored pitch practice sessions through the SBDC, helping several businesses prepare, refine, and practice their pitches for funders, customers, partners, and other audiences.
Isabel holds a BA from Fordham University and an MBA from the Fox School of Business at Temple University.
