This event is a guide to help you take the first steps in starting your business. You’ll hear from experts who will share their knowledge on planning, legal requirements, and financial options. It’s perfect for anyone who is thinking about starting a business, has recently started one, or is in the early stages of planning.

Welcome and Introduction (12:00-12:30)

• John Dever from SBDC will provide an overview of the SBDC, the free services offered to new businesses, and general tips on how to get started.

• Speaker Panel (12:30 – 1:30 PM)

  • Kim Stout, SBA: Explaining the role of the SBA, how it supports small businesses, and the funding programs available.

  • Tom Scarborough, Penn State Law: Discussing legal essentials for new businesses and resources available for legal guidance.
  • Jessica Hamilton, EDC Finance: Talking about financial resources available through EDC Finance and local support options.

• Q&A and Networking (1:30 PM – 2:00 PM)

  • An open session for questions followed by networking opportunities.
