Small Biz Basics: Introduction to Financing

Financing your small business takes planning, preparation, and an understanding of the options available to you. Whether you’re preparing to launch a business or looking for funding to grow an existing one, knowing what lenders look for and what financing may be the right fit can help you make informed decisions.

In “Introduction to Financing”, you’ll learn what to consider before seeking financing, what information and documentation you may need, and the different ways you can fund your business.

Topics will include:

  • Preparing to seek financing

  • Understanding what lenders look for

  • Financial projections, business plans, and other documentation

  • Determining how much funding you need and how you’ll use it

  • Exploring financing options, including personal funds, friends and family, banks and credit unions, microloans, finance companies, and more

  • Financial best practices to help position your business for success

  • How the SBDC can help you prepare for financing

Start-up and existing small business owners are welcome!

This project was funded by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development.
