This is an online event.
The Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) administers and enforces some of the nation’s most comprehensive federal labor laws. Collectively, these laws cover most private, state, and local government employment throughout the United States and its territories. We have several resources that would be of interest for New and Small Businesses.
The second workshop in our series in 2024 is on the federal child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 (FLSA) that were enacted to ensure when young people work, the work is safe and does not jeopardize their health, well-being or educational opportunities. These provisions also provide limited exemptions. The following topics will be reviewed in this presentation:
Learning Objectives:
- Minimum age standards for employment
- Occupations banned for all minors under the age of 18
- Hours of work and permitted occupations for 14- and 15-year-olds
