Normative Leadership Series: Part 1 – Introduction to Normative Cultures and Leadership Management

December 18 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm

$70
Normative Leadership Series

This is an in-person workshop. Lunch and parking included.

The new year will be upon us soon, and once again, it will be time to make a few New Year’s resolutions to change some things in our lives in 2025. Some of the most popular resolutions are, losing weight, joining a gym, and/or spending more time with family and friends. These would definitely make a difference in your personal life, but what about your on-going professional development? Would you be interested in making a resolution that would give you an intangible edge throughout your professional career as a manager/leader? If so, this program is for YOU!

The Normative Leadership program is ideal for new or seasoned supervisors, managers, administrators, coaches — anyone in a leadership position, or aspiring to be a leader. The focus of the program is the organizational culture and how group norms (expected behaviors) have an impact on variables such as: teamwork, communications, accountability, employee performance, profitability, customer service, etc. It is the culture that can make, or break, your organization, and a leader who doesn’t understand how to create and manage the organizational culture will be enslaved by it rather than be its architect

The concepts, system, and skills you will learn in this series can be universally applied to any field. They are timeless, and will never go out of style. They will enable you to be more competent and confident when dealing with both group and individual behavior. Ultimately, they will serve as an invaluable resource for you throughout your personal and professional life, and distinguish you as — a leader who can get things done

Normative Leadership Series Schedule: Part 1 (1 Day)

Morning Session: Introduction to Normative Cultures (9:00 -12:00)
Topics/skills participants will learn:

  • The ability to understand and “read” the dynamics of the (your) organizational culture.
  • How to set the behavioral parameters for the group.
  • How to use the Force Field and Polsky Diamond to gain control of the culture.
  • How to use the Strategies for Change in defining the normative infrastructure for your group.

Lunch break: (12:00 – 1:00)
Video tape role play — In preparation for the afternoon session, two volunteers will be selected to participate in a pre-training, 5-7 minute 1-1video tape role play to give the participants insight into their current 1-1 style. Once the afternoon session is completed, the participants will have the option of completing a follow up role play, this time, using the skills they learned. Both (before and after) videos will be copied to a DVD, and sent to each participant so they can measure the growth in their 1-1 facilitation style.
